We are not the Judge, Nor the Jury
Wouldn’t it be amazing to live in the world that God intended?
Human nature has come to be that of us, judging others and/or comparing ourselves to others. But that is neither what God wants, nor intended for our lives.
Social media, although maybe not intentionally, has played such a big role in both of these things. It gives us the control to judge people privately or gossip about them with others when we see things that may not align with our thoughts or beliefs. It also steals our joy when we feel judged, or left out of an event we may see others doing that we wish we could do. Of course it’s not just social media, it’s every where.
Human nature is to want to be accepted and loved, and that’s what Jesus intended for us too. The Bible says, Love others as I have loved you. Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another” John 13:34. But Jesus never judged people by their past, if anything I believe He just might love sinners a little more. Jesus knows the pain in a sinners heart. It is His will to forgive a sinner, if they confess and surrender their cares to Him.
The Bible gives reference to so many people that had life all wrong. It gives examples of bad decisions and still Jesus loved them and used them for His good works.
Imagine a world full of Christians doing that! That’s the world I want to live in!
My prayer for this world we live in is, for us to see people for what is truly in their hearts, to see them for their true selves. Behind all the hurts and hang ups, behind all the money and possessions one may have. Whether their life looks perfect or messy, my prayer is we truly see them. Let’s wake up every day seeing the best in people, loving them no matter what choices they make.
Because good or bad the only judge of those choices is God himself.
So let’s not make life here on earth harder for ourselves or for others by judging each other. Let’s love each other through every high and every low and leave the judgement up to Jesus, as intended.
